Fantastic walk. 8km easy to moderate yellow loop takes you past multiple beautiful waterfalls. No scrambling or large elevation changes. Paved roads most of the way until the turnoff to the parking lot and easily accessible by small, non-4WD cars. Some of the best waterfalls I saw in Iceland. Starts and ends at a lodge with food and hot tub access (not free but cheap).

Fun hike with lots of waterfalls and vistas. Took us about 2 hours taking the red/yellow way signs and then yellow. Way signs are difficult to see at points since they’re only about 3-feet tall and since you’ll go off trail when it gets incredibly wet at some parts (there are a bunch of boardwalks for the beginning/end, depending on which way you go). Bring Gore-tex boots for the wet parts. Sadly, didn’t find the hot springs along the trail but there’s one accessible near the hostel.

We spent a leisurely morning on this fantastic walk. There are two impressive falls (Faxi and Kirkjufoss) on the main river (a substantial river from the glacier), which you follow for about 3km. For about another 3 km you follow a smaller river that has two smaller but lovely falls. The smaller river passes Laugerfell where the walk starts and finishes. If you follow the river upstream past Laugerfell you will see a further series of 4 falls which can easily be done in an hour. And after the walk you can soak in the amazing hot pools. Laugerfell is in a fantastic and remote part of the country about 20mins drive from Hengifoss. Because the 910 leads to a huge hydroelectric dam, the road is excellent- very unusual in the highlands. If you’re from the UK, Ben Fogle did an episode of Lives In The Wild just a few miles down river from Faxi.

Nice hike with 5 waterfalls. The hike is easy and just under 8 km. It was very muddy when we were there but it didnt ruin the fun. We did it in 2 hours including photos. The hike is a round.

From the parking lot, head towards one of the sets of steps going over the fence and look for the sticks with red tops as mentioned. If you start heading south first you’ll hit the falls towards the end of your hike. I would not describe this as a flat hike as others say, there’s an elevation change of almost 700 feet with some uneven terrain and some steep sections. Be sure to bring waterproof footwear as the path can be boggy in spots. Amazing vistas and waterfalls, 10/10, would recommend.
