Experience the charm and history of Brisbane on a full-day highlights tour that begins with hotel pickup in the Brisbane CBD. From there, you will be guided through the city’s iconic landmarks, blending natural beauty with stunning architecture. Visit New Farm Park and the Brisbane Powerhouse, a pre-war industrial site transformed into a vibrant arts center. Explore the heritage-listed Story Bridge, which links central Brisbane to Kangaroo Point, and marvel at the engineering behind this historic structure. The tour continues to the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, where you may witness rock climbers and abseilers tackling the volcanic rock formations that were originally mined by convicts. Along the way, the friendly guide shares fascinating stories about the city’s early days, including its founding by Matthew Flinders and its unexpected development into the vibrant river city it is today. A delicious lunch at the botanical garden cafe offers a relaxing pause, complete with incredible views of the gardens, and time to meander and explore the lush surroundings if the schedule allows.
Discover the scenic beauty of Mt Coo-tha, named after the stingless honeybees native to the area and meaning honey mountain in the Aboriginal language. From the lookout, take in sweeping views of the city and the Great Dividing Range beyond. The highlight of the day is a visit to the world-famous Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, where you can explore at your own pace. Get up close to over one hundred and thirty koalas and encounter emus, wombats, and possibly the endangered Tasmanian Devil. This immersive wildlife experience allows you to connect with Australia’s unique fauna while enjoying the peaceful sanctuary environment. With a comfortable direct transfer back to your city hotel, this tour combines culture, history, wildlife, and scenic vistas, creating an unforgettable day in Brisbane filled with exploration, learning, and memorable experiences.

Very nice small zoo with lots of koalas and kangaroos. It is amazing what they do for the animals and people can see koalas from very close even touch them (need to pay extra). Also feeding kangaroos and walking around in the Farm (donkeys, sheep, chickens and etc). Nice birds of prey show. The only disappointment was the separate part of the park where wombats, tasmanian devils and tree kangaroos reside - we did not see a single animal there and it looks a bit unfriendly (at least that was my feeljng)

Such a great Queensland animal zoo not too far from the city center. Lots of koalas, reptiles, kangaroos, birds and platypus is a huge bonus to see in real life seeing as they are so hard to spot in the wild. Love that there are many encounter programs and school holiday programs for the animal lovers young and old. Well planned out space with the peaceful river as the backdrop. Highly recommend especially if you do not have the opportunity to drive to the big Australia zoo 1.5hrs away.

Tickets - We purchased tickets in advance from the visitor information centre at Queen's Street in Brisbane CBD and managed to get a 10% discount + a free silver koala pin each. Highly recommend doing so if already in the vicinity of the visitor information centre. Parking - Lots of free parking available on a weekday. Overall vibes - Loved how relaxed it felt stepping into the sanctuary. The animals all looked like they were living their best life, and all the staff members we met seemed to genuinely enjoy working there. It was great that the shows were available both in the morning and afternoon, so we could tour at our own pace instead of having to rush to catch them. The shows were fairly short (15 mins) but very informative. The keepers clearly prioritised the comfort of the animals and made slight adjustments to the show accordingly. We enjoyed buying some kangaroo feed then venturing into the open field to feed them! F&B - Food selection was good and expectedly pricey (since it is an attraction afterall!). We only got light bites and ended driving back to town for food after leaving mid afternoon. We were five adults and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There were many families out and about and the kids looked like they were having fun. Ample stroller parking all around the sanctuary.

Easy to reach using private or public transport from the QBD. The venue hosts different species not just koalas but also Kangaroos, crocodiles, reptiles, birds. For the welfare of animals koalas cannot be hugged but guests can pay more to see them closer and cuddle them with the supervision of staff. Everybody working seemed professional and committed to preserve the welfare of the animals. A bit pricy, but considering what you get it is still worth a visit.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is truly one of Brisbane’s most special attractions and a must-visit for anyone who loves animals. From the moment you walk in, the natural bushland setting makes you feel close to wildlife in a peaceful environment. The highlight, of course, is the koalas—you can see them up close, learn about their habits, and even have the chance to gently hold one for a photo, which is an unforgettable experience. Beyond koalas, the sanctuary offers so much more. You can hand-feed kangaroos in a large open field, watch platypuses swimming, and see a variety of native birds, reptiles, and farm animals. The daily keeper talks and shows are both fun and educational, making it a great place for families and kids to learn about Australia’s unique wildlife. The staff are friendly and clearly passionate about animal care and conservation, which adds to the overall experience. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate, with plenty of shaded areas to rest. There’s also a nice café with good food and drinks. Overall, Lone Pine is not just a sanctuary but a place where you truly connect with nature. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike!
