What an incredible weekend!!! If you ever find yourself in Natchez and you are uncertain of where to stay, give Monmouth a chance. My husband and I just stayed in Room 40 which was named Live Oak. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our deluxe king room was actually more of an apartment (minus a kitchen). There were no mini fridges, microwaves or coffee makers but don’t let this deter you from enjoying the impeccable atmosphere. Go unwind, disconnect, and explore the beautiful home nestled in rich history. The tour of the home and breakfast at the Garden Room are complimentary with your stay, don’t skip it!!! Ms Nichel worked that dining room single handedly; her hospitality was unmatched at breakfast. Hot coffee, delicious breakfast, and awesome service, you won’t be disappointed. Just like any historic location, if you’re looking for “something wrong” you will see everything that isn’t perfection; however I challenge you to open your mind, disconnect and try to enjoy a place that isn’t meant to be chic and modern.

Gorgeous grounds, idyllic. Beautiful, clean room with bathroom. We were there on a Tuesday night and the bar was unfortunately closed. Very awkward to get into town on foot. No pedestrian entrances or exits.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time during our stay. The staff was very welcoming and went the extra mile to make sure our stay was perfect. The breakfast was far better than we anticipated. The waitress that took care of guests in the Garden dining area was super friendly and made everyone in the room feel welcome. While we didn’t have a chance to have dinner at the 1818 Restaurant, we did meet the chef and he was so friendly and caring that we will be making dinner reservations the next time we visit. Alas there is Michael at the front desk. A charming soul that went above and beyond to make us feel at home and was kind enough to answer all of our crazy questions. Even helped us to get a gift that was left behind, after we checked out, back to the intended recipient (my wife). Thanks so much and we hope to see you all again soon!

Very disappointing. The house itself is beautiful but our room was very shabby and not very clean. There were no coffee making facilities in the room or any bottles of water. The TV was in a corner with the view obscured by the bedpost. Towels were threadbare and frayed. Breakfast was not very good at all, with little choice. The only seating in the room was 2 upright dining room chairs, both of which had broken seats which sagged. There was only 1 very lumpy pillow each. The grounds are pretty but need maintenance. On the plus side the restaurant was excellent and our waiter, George was lovely. Warning - the driveway is gravel with deep ruts so don't take a car with liw ground clearance. It would definitely get damaged.

We had an amazing stay there. The grounds are extensive and beautiful, you can spend quite a bit of time in the various paths. The staff were wonderful. We missed the main house tour after breakfast, and as we're were checking out the gentlemen offered to keep the house open and the we lights on for us so we could take a peek our own. The southern breakfast was delicious. The suites have vintage furniture and decor. We had a large patio with access to the gardens. If we lived nearby, we would make it a destination in itself from time to time.
