Mahon Falls is a spectacular waterfall in the Comeragh Mountains, cascading dramatically from a 50-meter cliff into a clear pool below. The powerful flow and rugged rock formations make it an impressive natural sight, especially after rainfall. Surrounded by forested trails, it’s perfect for hiking, photography, and soaking in the serene beauty of nature.
Easily accessible by car and that via the magic road. Nice carpark and a short trail (10-15 minutes) to the falls. Watch out for sheep with teeth drinking Irish water. Waterfall is great for pictures and admiring God’s amazing nature.
I hiked this on a foggy Sunday August morning, saw a few other people otherwise it was very quiet walking with the sheep. There are sheep droppings everywhere, I dont advise wearing nice shoes. The hike is relatively flat and easy for all ages, I saw a few kids on my way back. There is no charge to hike here and parking is free, be aware the road leading up to the parking lot is very narrow only allowing 1 vehicle in places. Drive slow and you will be okay.
