Embark on Iceland’s longest sea kayaking trip for true adventure
Paddle through Jökulfirðir glacial fjords in Hornstrandir Nature Reserve
Explore Ísafjarðardjúp bay, another top destination for sea kayaking
Excellent chance to see whales, porpoises, dolphins, and seals nearby
This is our longest and most adventurous sea kayaking trip, combining Glacier Fjords Kayaking and Coastal Kayaking Adventure into one continuous journey for a truly wild experience. Paddlers will explore the stunning Jökulfirðir glacial fjords in Hornstrandir Nature Reserve as well as the Ísafjarðardjúp bay, both of which are considered among the best sea kayaking destinations in Iceland. The area is home to numerous seabird species that spend the summer along the cliffs, and there are excellent opportunities to see whales, porpoises, dolphins, and seals in their natural habitats. Guests spend the first three nights in comfortable houses before moving to wild camping on remote beaches for the remaining two nights. This unique combination of comfort and wilderness ensures the adventure remains engaging and exciting throughout. Paddlers navigate towering cliffs, waves, and rocky passages that showcase the raw power of nature, while taking time to explore hidden coves and inlets, and even surf small waves when conditions allow.
The camp-to-camp format, exposure to open ocean, and long water crossings make this trip best suited to kayakers with substantial experience. The journey offers a challenging yet rewarding experience for those who are confident on open water and capable of handling changing conditions. For participants with less experience, other trips such as Wild Camp Discovery or Glacier Fjords Kayaking are recommended as they provide a safer introduction to sea kayaking in Iceland. Throughout this expedition, guests will witness breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife, and the dramatic power of Icelandic nature while honing their kayaking skills in one of the most remote and beautiful parts of the country. The combination of skill, endurance, and adventure ensures an unforgettable experience for every experienced paddler who joins this remarkable journey.
