Arctic Ice Fishing

After being picked up from your accommodation in Jukkasjärvi or Kiruna, you will travel by comfortable minibus or van into the heart of Lapland, heading toward the fishing spot that offers the best conditions for the day. The region is home to a variety of Arctic fish species, including Arctic char, grayling, trout, perch, and the powerful northern pike, often called the “Swedish crocodile.” Along the way, your guide will share insights about the surrounding wilderness while ensuring a smooth and relaxing journey into the frozen landscape.

Upon arrival, your Arctic ice fishing experience begins with a friendly safety briefing to make sure everyone feels confident and prepared before stepping onto the ice. Your guide will set up the area, drill the fishing holes, and provide all necessary equipment, including a fishing rod and a warm reindeer hide to sit on. As you fish, you can admire the remarkable clarity of the ice and water beneath, often allowing you to see the lakebed and even spot fish swimming below. While catching fish can never be guaranteed, your experienced guide will support you throughout the activity, making the experience both engaging and memorable in the peaceful silence of the Arctic wilderness.
