Inishbofin, also known as the Island of the White Cow, lies just seven miles off the coast of Galway. This enchanting island, measuring 5.7 km by 4 km, is a perfect destination for cycling enthusiasts, with its picturesque routes offering breathtaking views of the island's wild Atlantic scenery. On arrival at the pier, visitors can easily choose from a variety of bikes to hire and set off to explore. The island is renowned for its award-winning sandy beaches, ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and diving in crystal-clear waters. Inishbofin is a designated special area of conservation and protection, making it an important breeding ground for numerous bird species, with the Corncrake being one of the rarest and most threatened currently nesting on the island.

Inishbofin is not only a haven for nature lovers but also a vibrant cultural hub, especially for traditional Irish music. The island hosts its own Ceilí band and attracts musicians and artists from all over. The island's history dates back to 8000-4000 B.C., with the earliest documented records from early Christian times. As you sail into the harbour, you'll spot Cromwell's 16th-century barracks, which served as a prison for Catholic priests during the turbulent times following the English Statute of 1585. This rich blend of natural beauty and historical significance makes Inishbofin a truly unique destination.
