We recently booked two tours with Mario to cover the Amalfi Coast along with Pompeii and Herculaneum during our stay in Salerno. This was our first trip to Italy, and we wanted to maximize the two days we had in the area. From my first inquiry Mario suggested a quick call to iron out our preferences, and later supplied several itinerary options with different contents, durations, and price points. The first day we had a great breakfast stop in Minori at the Pasticceria Sal de Riso, and then on to Amalfi and Positano. Along the way Mario shared his extensive knowledge of the region’s history and agricultural methods. It was clear he has a great passion for these areas. Mario also was keen to know if we had any particular must see spots, and based off a discussion of my wife’s love for olive oil he was able to get us into a local olive oil producer in Sorrento for an olive oil tasting and lunch. The stated itinerary alone would have met our expectations, but his ability to customize was above and beyond. For Pompeii and Herculaneum, we were accompanied by Giovanna, and she shared a wealth of archeological information about both sites. Her enthusiasm helped bring the history to life. She also goodheartedly indulged our requests to find a Virtual Geocache site at Pompeii, as well as the locations of an Adventure Lab in Herculaneum. Mario and Giovanna made for two special, personalized days for us. It truly felt like coming to town and getting tours from friends that are excited to share their favorite spots! We spent the best day of our vacation last Saturday with Eugenio, the best tour guide in Italy. Eugenio was so passionate about showing us the Amalfi coast. He is a walking encyclopedia of this breathtaking area. He was so funny and his laugh was contagious. He knew everyone in each town it seemed. We stopped at unique and hidden gems throughout the tour. He also reserved a table for lunch at a lovely restaurant in Ravello with a spectacular view. It was truly a beautiful and memorable day that will forever be etched in our minds. We could not have asked for a better guide. He was a very good driver and we felt very safe. My girlfriend and I traveled from New York for a wedding and spent a few days beforehand exploring the region with VisitAmalfiCoast. It was the perfect start to our trip. Dolores made the Naples street food tour both fun and informative, and Giovanna brought Pompeii and Herculaneum to life with her energy and deep knowledge, even in the heat. Each day we had a different driver who made the experience seamless. Carmine was prompt and courteous, Luca was warm and patient during our wine and lunch at Casa Setaro, and Fabio handled the Amalfi Coast roads with such skill and smoothness that we both managed to nap on the ride back, which is no small feat on those winding cliffs. Mario coordinated everything flawlessly and was always available for questions. The whole experience was stress-free, engaging, and memorable, and we would recommend Mario and his team without hesitation to anyone visiting the area.
