The Lagoons and Volcanoes tour offers a full-day adventure on Terceira Island, combining hiking and a volcanology-focused exploration, with lunch included. The morning begins with a 5-kilometer hike along the Black Mysteries Trail, celebrated for its stunning natural beauty, including lagoons, cryptomeria forests, endemic Azorean vegetation such as Erica, and striking volcanic landscapes. The trail is of medium difficulty, with an elevation gain of approximately 100 meters over uneven terrain. After the hike, enjoy a local lunch with drinks and dessert before embarking on the afternoon portion of the tour.

The afternoon a guided vehicle tour of Terceira’s volcanic features, visiting craters, volcanoes, and caves. Highlights include climbing Serra de Santa Bárbara, the island’s highest point, with views of neighboring islands in the Central Group, strolling through the tranquil Lagoa das Patas area surrounded by hydrangeas, exploring the Gruta de Natal lava tube, observing fumarolic activity at Furnas do Enxofre, and visiting the Algar do Carvão, an empty volcano and one of the Azores’ most beautiful natural monuments. The tour concludes with a stop at Serra do Cume viewpoint, offering breathtaking views of one of the largest volcanic craters in the Azores, often referred to as a natural “patchwork quilt.”
