Our longest journey is designed to showcase as much of the South Island as possible while still allowing time to truly enjoy each place along the way. From Christchurch we travel north along the dramatic Kaikoura Coast, where mountains meet the sea, before turning inland toward Nelson and continuing on to Westport. This opening section of the tour offers a rich mix of coastal scenery, remote valleys, and relaxed regional towns, setting the tone for an immersive exploration of the island.
From Westport we follow the wild West Coast south, taking in rainforests, rugged shorelines, and glacier country before reaching Haast and then crossing into Central Otago and Wanaka. The journey continues into Fiordland with a visit to Milford Sound and an overnight in Te Anau, surrounded by towering mountains and deep lakes. From there, we begin our return journey, tracking the coastline as closely as possible, enjoying ever-changing seascapes and historic towns before arriving back in Christchurch, having completed a truly comprehensive South Island adventure.
