Women seeking a deeper connection with horses can take part in the Women’s Horse Connection and Horse Ownership sessions at Bonogin Valley Horse Retreat. Designed for participants of all experience levels, the three-hour sessions provide a welcoming and supportive environment where women can build confidence, develop horsemanship skills, and enjoy time with horses in a peaceful countryside setting.
The program combines practical riding instruction with hands-on horse care and communication techniques. Participants learn how to prepare their horses, understand equine behavior, improve balanced riding skills, and develop effective communication through ground handling and horsemanship exercises. Each session concludes with untacking, creating a complete experience from preparation to care.
Led by Debbie Burgermeister, an experienced coach with more than four decades of English and Western equine expertise, the sessions provide valuable insight into horse ownership and safe riding practices. Activities include grooming, handling, join-up exercises, lunging, liberty work, balance training, and bareback riding, along with lessons on feeding, first aid, saddlery, and general horse care.
Beyond riding skills, the program focuses on personal growth, empowerment, and wellbeing.
