Experience a unique and empowering equine journey with the Women’s Horse Connection and Horse Ownership sessions at Bonogin Valley Horse Retreat. These three-hour sessions are designed for women of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced riders, providing a safe and supportive environment to connect with horses, unwind, and build confidence. The program combines ground handling, riding skills, and horsemanship education, teaching participants how to communicate effectively with horses, understand their behavior, and develop balanced riding techniques. Sessions include preparing your horse, horsemanship and riding education, and untacking at the end, ensuring a full and engaging experience that promotes both horse knowledge and personal growth.
Guided by Debbie Burgermeister, a highly experienced coach with over 40 years in English and Western equine disciplines, participants gain insight into horse ownership, care, and safe riding practices. Activities include observing horse behavior, grooming, handling, join-up exercises, lunging, liberty work, and bareback riding with balance exercises. The sessions also explore horse ownership knowledge, including feeding, first aid, saddlery, and overall care. Beyond horsemanship, the program fosters empowerment, confidence, leadership, and wellbeing, allowing women to enjoy the freedom of horses while developing practical skills, body language awareness, and coordination. With small group sizes, expert guidance, and the serene countryside setting, these sessions provide a transformative, fun, and safe experience for women looking to deepen their connection with horses and themselves.
