Step into a true winter wonderland and join us for an unforgettable snowshoe adventure in Oslo, where nature, tranquility, and adventure come together. This experience is designed in small groups, ensuring a warm, personal, and relaxed atmosphere as you explore Oslo’s beautiful snowy forests. The tour begins outside the Oslo Visitor Centre at Jernbanetorget, where we board the Frognerseteren metro line for one of the city’s most scenic train rides. As the train climbs higher, urban life slowly disappears, replaced by breathtaking winter landscapes blanketed in snow.

No prior snowshoeing experience is required, making this tour perfect for beginners and nature lovers alike. Our professional guides will provide all necessary instructions and carefully adapt the pace to suit every participant, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the journey. As you walk through the quiet forest, feel the crunch of fresh snow beneath your feet and breathe in the crisp, clean winter air. Along the way, your guide will introduce you to Norwegian winter traditions, forest life, and local wildlife—keep your eyes open for deer, foxes, and other animals that inhabit the area. After soaking in the magic of the snowy wilderness, we make our way back to the metro station and return to Jernbanetorget, leaving you with lasting memories of Oslo’s winter beauty.

So… we actually didn’t get to go snowshoeing because there was no snow, so we did a guided hike in the Oslomarka Forest, instead. Einar, who met us in Oslo and put us on the train, was very personable. One woman arrived late, but he found her and put her on the next train to meet us at our destination, which was very thoughtful of him. I can’t say enough good things about our guide, Miles. He was friendly, informative, and exceptionally kind. He bought us hot chocolate/coffee while we waited for the late woman to arrive, and he shared stories and facts with us throughout our hike. He was very well-prepared, both in terms of the supplies and knowledge he had on hand. The hike itself was great. It started slowly (we tend to be fast walkers), but once we got on the trail, where we stayed for the majority of the time, it was a great pace. A couple parts of the trail were a tad tricky, but totally doable even by novices. Highly recommend!

An amazing experience! Loved every minute, our guide Ryder was so lovely and helpful, kept us entertained with lots of story’s and facts of Oslo and the forest. Unfortunately we were not lucky enough to see a wildlife, but the views alone were absolutely breathtaking! This was our first time in Oslo and we would highly recommend doing a mountain hike or something similar, it’s not just about the city, there’s an amazing forest surrounding it!

Had the most amazing time on the privte fjordhopping tour with Linn! She has so much knowledge of the islands, and was such a nice person to spend the day with. It was truly wonderful getting to get to learn more about Oslo, and to share about our home, Seattle! Would happily book another tour with When In Norway, next time we find ourselves here!

Had a great time with guide Mustapha on the snowy forest walk just outside of Oslo. Would go on another of their tours based on our experience of this one!

Incredible walk in the forest under the snow…around 5km back and forth, breathtaking views while enjoying being in nature. Need to dress accordingly to the weather and with waterproof pants (as when you walk with snowshoes, snow is thrown constantly at the back of your legs). A bit expensive though. But highly recommend if you can afford it!

Nice to have such picturesque views without having to go too far from the city. Antoine was a great guide! Very knowledgeable in the area and of Norwegian culture.
