Gala Campground - Site #2 Group Field Site

The Group Field Campsite at Gala River Front Campground offers a spacious and scenic location for larger groups seeking a rustic outdoor experience. Located at 80 Thompson Drive in Eagle Rock Virginia, this site can accommodate up to 25 campers and provides both drive in and paddle in access. The campground sits on an eight acre parcel at the back of a working dairy farm, offering a peaceful and natural setting along the James River. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and a level gravel area suitable for tents. The area also features a group river access point, port a potties, and a dumpster for trash disposal. Visitors should note that no water or utilities are provided, so campers need to bring their own supplies.

Access to the campsite is limited by a railroad bridge that restricts vehicles longer than twenty five feet, making large RVs unsuitable for this location. Advanced reservations are required as the campground is unmanned. This site is ideal for families, friends, or organized groups who want a flexible camping experience with easy river access for recreational activities such as kayaking, fishing, or paddle trips. Guests can enjoy a serene natural setting while being close to the river for all their outdoor adventures.
