The location is about thirty minutes or approximately twenty one river miles upstream from Buchanan Virginia, allowing easy access for day trips or extended stays. Access to the campground by road requires passing under a railroad bridge that restricts vehicles longer than twenty five feet, so large RVs are not able to enter.
