This guided kayak tour begins with 15–20 minutes of instruction for new paddlers, while experienced participants can enjoy some free exploration or stay nearby to help beginners get comfortable with their kayaks. Once launched from the shore of Hammond Lake, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will share the rich history of the lake, highlighting important people and events that shaped both the park and the city of Clermont. Along the way, paddlers will also have the chance to observe native wildlife, flora, and fauna in their natural surroundings.
The tour is suitable for all skill levels, as the lake has no current, making it easy for first-time paddlers yet still engaging for experienced kayakers. All necessary equipment is included in the registration fee, and participants are advised to wear clothing that can get wet. Each paddler will use a single kayak, which is easier and safer for beginners, though participants are welcome to bring their own kayak or tandem at a reduced rate. The tour is open to anyone 8 years and older, and Wanderlust Club Members receive 20% off. Paddlers must arrive at the Camper Canteen at least 15 minutes before the tour starts, and state park admission of $5 per vehicle is not included in the registration fee.
