Primitive campsites at Lake Leatherwood City Park offer a simple and refreshing outdoor experience for campers who love nature and value quiet surroundings. Each site includes a raised tent platform, picnic table, and fire ring with a grill, making it easy to enjoy outdoor meals and relaxed evenings by the fire.
Restroom facilities and a nearby bathhouse provide added convenience, while pets on a leash are welcome, allowing guests to bring their companions along. These sites do not include electrical, water, or waste hookups, creating a more authentic and unplugged camping experience.
Guests should note that there is no water directly at the sites, but water spigots are available near the bathhouse and parking area. Standard check-in begins at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 2:00 PM. For stays longer than seven nights, guests are encouraged to call ahead for arrangements.

Absolutely gorgeous campground! We ended up booking about a week or two before our stay as a last resort, but we're so glad we picked this place! We stayed Wednesday night to Sunday morning in the tent loop. Wednesday-Friday morning were extremely private, we were the only ones in the tent loop. Friday night some other families started showing up, but it was still quiet since the sites are pretty far away from each other! My only gripe about noise was you're across the water from Margaritaville and a resort, which means you can hear music from the distance at night. I loved the site we picked because you couldn't see our tent from the road and we got a gorgeous view of the lake through the trees. The staff was all very nice and we bought firewood every night. The bathhouse was very well maintained and I only saw 1 spider and 1 roach in there throughout our entire stay! The campground itself was relatively bug free and had looots of roaming deer! Keep in mind, we went in November which means it was too cold for bugs. All of that considered, this is now my favorite campsite in Georgia and I would absolutely love to come back!
