Participants begin their adventure with a scenic 25-minute drive to the He’eia Kea Boat Harbor, where convenient parking and restrooms are available. From there, kayaks are carried to the designated launch area, ensuring safety away from larger boat traffic. As you paddle toward the sandbar, you can stop to snorkel at various reefs along the way, taking in the vibrant marine life and stunning underwater views. The journey to the sandbar typically takes around 45 minutes, providing ample time to enjoy the clear waters and the remarkable scenery of the Ko’olau mountains.
Upon reaching the sandbar, participants can stand in the shallow waters and soak in the beauty of this rare natural formation. Safety measures such as attaching the floating rope to your kayak and wrist are emphasized to ensure a secure experience. After exploring the sandbar, paddlers return to the launch location and bring their kayaks back to the adventure hub in Kailua. Bathrooms and an outdoor shower are available at the storefront for convenience.
