The Route 231 Hop On Winery Tour offers an affordable and flexible way to explore some of the best wineries, vineyards, and breweries near Charlottesville. The tour begins with a complimentary pickup from your pre-selected hotel or Three Notch'd Brewing Company at IX Art Park. Guests travel as a group along the route and can select their first stop from Merrie Mill Farm and Vineyards, Keswick Vineyards, or Patch Brewing Co. The second stop offers a choice of Patch Brewing Co, Barbeque Exchange, Well Hung Vineyards, or Honah Lee Vineyard. For the final stop, participants can choose from Horton Vineyards, The Barn at 678 Vineyard, Barboursville Vineyards, Exchange Cafe and Virginia Foothills Distillery, or Chestnut Oak Vineyards. Each stop allows about one hour to enjoy tastings, tours, or relaxing in the venue before heading to the next destination. At the end of the tour, guests return to Charlottesville and are dropped off at Three Notch'd Brewery or their original pickup location.
The tour lasts approximately six and a half hours including transportation and time at the stops. Transportation, pickup, and return are included, but food, tastings, and driver gratuities are not. Participants must be 21 or older and have a valid ID. Tours operate rain or shine and require at least six total participants to run. Groups of six or more should coordinate tasting availability with each venue. Open alcohol is not permitted on the bus, and cleaning fees apply for any damage or bodily fluids. The experience combines scenic travel with wine and brewery exploration, providing a relaxed and customizable day for visitors seeking to enjoy local flavors and hospitality.
