Stunning winter views and festive memories

Santa Spotted on Beaulieu River as Festive Canoe Tours Delight Families

A magical Christmas experience has arrived on the scenic waters of the Beaulieu River, where families are being invited to take part in a 90-minute guided canoe adventure filled with festive cheer. The seasonal tour blends gentle paddling with storytelling and holiday wonder, offering participants a unique way to celebrate Christmas amid the river’s tranquil winter landscape.

The journey begins at the riverside base at Baileys Hard, where visitors are welcomed by friendly guides who provide all necessary equipment and safety instructions before setting off. Once on the water, participants glide through calm stretches of the river, surrounded by peaceful natural scenery that sets the stage for a memorable winter outing.

A highlight of the experience comes when Santa himself makes a special appearance in a canoe, greeting children along the route and distributing festive gifts from his sack. The surprise encounter adds a sense of excitement and enchantment to the tour, making it especially popular with younger participants and families seeking a shared holiday memory.

The experience concludes back at the launch point, where families can warm up, take photographs, and reflect on their festive adventure. Organisers note that sessions may be rescheduled in the event of adverse weather, with options for rebooking or a full refund, ensuring guests can still enjoy this seasonal celebration under safe conditions.

For years, the canoe centre has been my go-to supplier for all things kayaking, providing the essential gear for both my personal adventures and for the youth organisation I work for. I've bought everything from "tip to toe," and the level of service has never wavered. The staff are phenomenal first dealing with Shane & Ciaran to the last couple of years with Hugh they have consistently offered knowledgeable and supportive assistance. The online shop is very user-friendly, stocking strong, quality brands that focus on depth of quality. A recent experience highlights their exceptional commitment: When a package went missing after posting, the team at the canoe centre put my needs foremost and promptly dispatched a second package before the original was relocated by An Post. This kind of proactive, customer-first service is why I continue to go back. No matter the size of the purchase, I always feel valued and acknowledged. An absolutely stellar sales and support service. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Level 2 Kayaking Course with Keith! Keith was amazing — patient, knowledgeable, and knew exactly when to push us (and when not to!). We (Carmel and Sarah) were the two oldest in the group, with one of us new to kayaking, but he made it fun, supportive, and full of laughs. The group was an added bonus — we’re now all on WhatsApp calling ourselves The Liffey Lickers! Can’t wait for our next river trip with Keith to build on everything we learned.

The courses here are brilliant. Educational and very enjoyable. I would highly recommend them as they really boosted my confidence and skills. The coach, Keith, has a lovely manner that takes away any fear or apprehension. The shop itself ships out equipment fast and efficiently and advises about same over the phone without hesitation.
