This was a massive tick of the list of things to see in Hawaii. The memorial is very respectful of those who lost their lives. The 23 minute movie is a must to see to truly understand the history of this place. Please dont skip visiting this site it will make you stop and think about a time when the world was at war. I pray we never see this happen again. Peace
It is said that this is the most visited place in Hawaii. It is the final resting place for 1,177 sailors and Marines who died on that fateful day of December 7, 1941. This solemn, poignant and peaceful place can evoke emotions in even the most unshakable of us. The memorial is constructed in a most respectful way. The wreck is still leaking oil, quite visible from the memorial. These are called the "black tears". The tours of the monument are well organized, even with large crowds. I'll never forget this "bucket list" visit.

Opening hours are 8 am to 4 pm Entry to the site is free. You can book a ticket slot for 1$ on the recreation website. Be aware NO purse or bags are allowed on the site. Just a wallet is ok. Parking is 7$ per entry day.

The pearl harbor location was a great place to learn about the history and conflict during the past wars. You can see modern shifts at pearl harbor and the older ships in the museum section of the harbor. Highly recommend visiting this place as the facilities are very nice and you get to see a lot about the history.
I really didn’t know what to expect when I booked this tour but I was blown away by the thorough knowledge and stories of our guide. He gave us historical context of the sites around HI and was well prepared with water and snacks. Bus was comfortable and A/C was a game changer in the humidity. Because of the nature of Pearl Harbor as an active military base, our guide wasn’t able to walk in with us but he provided so much historical insight beforehand that really made the experience that much more meaningful. 10/10 would definitely recommend!
