Hilo’s Remote Reef Ridge two tank boat dive takes you far beyond the bay to explore some of the most untouched and dramatic underwater landscapes along the Hamakua Coast. This adventure is designed for certified divers with at least fifteen logged dives who want to experience volcanic pinnacles, coral filled canyons, lava shelves, and reef structures found only at remote boat access sites. As you travel north from Hilo Harbor, you will enjoy stunning views of waterfalls, rugged cliffs, and the slopes of Mauna Kea. On calm days, spinner dolphins may appear along the route, adding even more excitement to the journey.
Once underwater, you will discover a thriving reef system filled with Hawaiian green sea turtles, colorful tropical fish, octopus, eels, and endemic marine species. The volcanic formations create a unique backdrop that highlights the wild beauty of East Hawaii. During the winter season, humpback whales may be spotted offshore while snow sometimes dusts Mauna Kea in the distance, creating one of the most memorable scenes you can experience from the ocean. This is a premium dive for guests seeking both adventure and unforgettable views above and below the surface.

We had the best time on our snorkel tour with our guide Morgan and captain Kaliko! They took us to two beautiful snorkel spots, and we were lucky enough to see sea turtles at both locations. Would highly recommend, especially if the weather is nice. The spots were about 4 miles down the coast after exiting the bay; be aware of motion sickness in case of rough seas.

Did the beach snorkel small group tour. Ended up just being my group of 3. Our guide was fun, knowledgeable, and helpful. Once in the water we had a blast. Didn’t hurt the weather was just perfect. After the guide gave us a ride back to our ship and stopped by a local store he recommended since we’d brought up finding good spam musubi.

Alex was really great in helping us 'newbies' with our paddle board experience - and it was really great! We saw a half dozen turtles within the first 5 minutes of being in Reeds Bay. Fabulous operator and service. Highly recommend!

My daughter did a scuba two-tank shore dive and I did a shore snorkeling guided trip with this company. The dive shop boat was not running, so we were promptly rescheduled for shore adventures that were better than we had expected! The staff was very helpful and courteous. We saw some great fish in the reef and enjoyed ourselves a lot. Thank you Hilo Ocean Adventures!

It was an unforgettable tour for both snorkeling and stand-up paddling (SUP) with Isaiah, the tour guide. I was able to see colorful coral and fish. In addition, I saw four green sea turtles! Isaiah gave me the right instructions to get used to snorkeling and paddling. It was an amazing experience! I definitely want to take the tour again when I visit Hilo on the Big Island.
