Shore Discover SCUBA Diving offers the perfect introduction to the underwater world of Hilo, giving first-time divers a safe and enjoyable way to experience SCUBA without committing to a full certification course. After a simple orientation and gear fitting, you’ll learn the fundamentals through an easy, stress-free pool session designed to build confidence before entering the ocean. Hilo’s waters are known for their exceptional clarity, vibrant reef fish, and frequent sea turtle sightings, making it one of the most memorable places to take your first dive.
Your session is divided into three parts: paperwork and equipment fitting, a 45–60 minute pool training session, and finally a guided ocean dive where you can relax and enjoy your first SCUBA experience. Upon completion, you’ll receive a Discover SCUBA Diving Certificate, allowing you to dive under the direct supervision of a SCUBA professional for up to 14 days and earn credit toward a full PADI Open Water Certification. This beginner-friendly program is ideal for anyone curious about SCUBA and eager to explore Hilo’s stunning marine life.
