We will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the starting point of the trail, where the adventure begins. After about two hours of trekking, we will reach the beautiful Esmeralda Lagoon, a perfect spot to catch your breath and admire the surrounding landscape. From there, we will continue along the right bank, beginning our ascent toward the Ojo del Albino glacier. The path requires concentration, as we navigate through high mountain terrain that will test your endurance and focus.
After an hour of climbing, we will reach a scenic stop at the 7 km mark, where you can enjoy a well-deserved lunch in the mountains and take a brief rest. Refreshed, we will continue our trek towards the Balcones del Ojo del Albino, a viewpoint that offers an incredible panorama of the Esmeralda Lagoon and the expansive high valley below. The final stretch takes us over 10 km of rugged terrain, reaching an elevation of 1200 meters. Here, we will face a challenging climb up a steep wall to reach the imposing Ojo del Albino Glacier. If the physical condition of the group and the weather conditions are favorable, we will ascend onto the glacier and walk on its pristine ice, making this an unforgettable high-mountain experience. ~Backpacking on a budget through South America~ Very nice hike, but take great care. It can be very difficult with lose rocks and intense climbing. I did not feel safe everywhere, so a guide could be handy. If there are a lot of hikers, it could be better, but we were the only ones.

Very steep and nit well marked climb up to the glacier. It's helpful to know thst at a certain point you are focused on just climbing straight up. For sure a very intense climb up and down which can be intimidating.

Really beautiful hike with a hint of danger. Once you get above the tree line the trail becomes unclear and many hikers take different routes up. I generally followed the water and made it to a small flat bit near the top and then it got interesting. Some people chose to walk up a massive pile of snow on the side of the mountain but I was nervous about that so I hugged the left side of the mountain and found a place to climb on hands and feet for about 15 minutes to reach the top. Some of the rocks are sharp and slippery but it was still within my comfort level. I would have turned back if there weren’t more people around but there were just enough for me to be comfortable.

Beautiful lake and glaciar. Much less visited and popular compared to Esmeralda. You walk along the eastern edge of the lake into the forest through some muddy parts up until you leave the tree leave after forty minutes. Here it goes up steeply for an hour or two to the Albino lake. Especially the last 200 meters requires some skill to get over (balance, rock scaling experience, patience). The Albino lake and glacier are also very beautiful and different from the Esmeralda one. Walking poles might come in handy for this part of the hike. To Esmeralda its about 90 minutes to two hours, from Esmeralda to Albino is around two to three hours I would say. Way back is much faster though.

Laguna Ojo del Albino is so beautiful place. Near the lake is a glacier. Here is strong wind. I was lucky, because weather was perfect. Along the trail you can make a lot of nice photos. Trail isn't difficult, but and isn't easy. From here is a good view to the valley and Laguna Esmeralda.
