Discover the therapeutic beauty of the Río Negro Hot Springs, where mineral-rich thermal waters have been valued for their rejuvenating and healing properties for centuries. Located near Hotel Hacienda Guachipelín in Rincón de la Vieja, these natural volcanic hot springs bubble directly from the depths of the mighty Rincón de la Vieja Volcano — the largest and most active volcano in Guanacaste. Surrounded by pristine dry tropical forest, the ambiance is peaceful and serene, making it an ideal escape for wellness, relaxation, and connection with nature.
Along the crystal-clear Río Negro, ten beautifully designed hot spring pools line the riverbanks, offering different temperatures to enjoy at your pace. Two suspension bridges connect both sides of the river, allowing access to multiple pools. Guests can also apply warm volcanic mud as a rejuvenating spa-style body treatment — simply let it dry on your skin and rinse it off in the refreshing river before returning to soak in the thermal pools. At the entrance, you’ll find dressing rooms, bathrooms, and lockers, and from there a scenic 350-meter forest trail leads you to the springs.
