The GPT Express is a dedicated hiking shuttle service that covers the full length of the Grampians Peaks Trail from Dunkeld to Mount Zero. Its schedule is designed to move hikers from south to north, making it easier for you to walk the trail in the preferred north to south direction. Most hikers choose to leave their car at the end of their walk and use the shuttle on the first day, allowing them to begin their hike without time pressure and return to a ready vehicle at the finish.
If you are walking the Southern Stage, you can book this ticket to begin at Jimmy Creek and finish in Dunkeld, or leave your car in Dunkeld and take the shuttle to your chosen starting point. For those completing the full GPT, you can leave your car in Halls Gap and use the Northern Zone shuttle to reach your starting point, then book this Southern Zone ticket to return to Halls Gap at the end. If your car is in Dunkeld, the GPT Express End-2-End service provides a seamless transfer all the way from Dunkeld to Halls Gap.

The Halls Gap Visitor Information Centre is the perfect starting point for anyone spending time in the Grampians. Conveniently located right on the main street in Halls Gap, the centre provides a wealth of resources that make planning your trip easy. Inside you’ll find shelves full of brochures, maps, and guides covering everything from walking trails and waterfalls to local restaurants, cafés, wineries, and accommodation. There are also displays highlighting the natural and cultural heritage of the region, which add some great context before heading out to explore. What stood out most for us was the staff, knowledgeable, approachable, and always happy to share tips on the best lookouts, family-friendly activities, or hidden gems you might otherwise miss. They answered our questions thoroughly and even suggested a few lesser-known hikes that turned out to be highlights of our trip. The visitor centre itself is modern, clean, and well laid out, with clear maps of the surrounding area and up-to-date event listings. If you’re planning to spend a few days (or longer) in the Grampians, I’d highly recommend stopping in here first. It’s the best way to make sure you’ve ticked off all the key points of interest and are fully prepared to enjoy everything this stunning region has to offer.

Very ordinary experience. I'm bringing up to 25 people into the town in a couple of months and called to see if they could give us some information packs. Was told to just go online. Upon further enquiry found they do have a map of the area for sale for $4. Can I get some free maps then please.....no...they are $4. Can't help you any further. While the lady wasn't rude she was just plain unhelpful and uninterested in trying to help me in my way. Great welcome to the town 🙄

The staff was very helpful and gave us some great advice on where we could visit and advised to fit in a short walk , even though it rained a little and we were not disappointed. Thanks again for your advice
