Came here once and never again. Arrived at the place hoping to get some lunch. We followed a man inside and saw there were about 6-7 people sitting having drinks, but they all turned to stare at us and I felt like we’re trespassing so we froze immediately at the door. The lady behind the bar had such an annoyed face when she saw us that I felt we’d offended her by simply being there. I asked if they’re open, the woman looked at the man we followed in with annoyance and told him she’d only asked him one simple thing, which immediately made me think we were not supposed to be able to enter. Then she looked back at us and with a tired face as if she was making us a huge favour and asked if we were there for lunch, I said yes and then she started making some excuse about the kitchen opening later but we told her we’ll just leave. The second we left, the man we followed in locked the door behind us. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this unwanted before. This was after 12:30 in the afternoon. No signs that the place was closed or that there was a private party. I understand it’s a bank holiday Monday, but even if following the Sunday open hours, the place should have been open since 12:00. Instead, it was only open to a select few, this was not made clear in any way, and we were made to feel like pests. Rude tone, no explanation - I’d much rather spend my money elsewhere.

Wings as starters where pretty good tbh Roast of the day corned beef was a disaster No taste and had to spend half the time eating the dinner trying to cut it Genuinely didn’t even bring it home for the dog no one ate it bartender was also rude

I don’t even know where to start with this, looks like a little pub, but no huge seating for everyone of all ages. I ordered the lasagna with a white cream sauce, crusted cheese layer phenomenal never tasted anything so good so much better than America or fish and chips. The chips were bigger than the plate. The fish amazing I can tell you you gotta stop here try a little bit of everything absolutely amazing. Great atmosphere all ages. Great music. Oldies. Nothings radical.

First time eating in the ploughman even though we've lived nearby for 19 years. Pint was spot on, staff were attentive and prompt, although I would have to have kept my fork to have helped my missus finish her chips. Hot sauce chicken burger was fairly hot, chips slightly underdone, but in all, decent dinner. Probably won't take 19 years to go back.

We attended the Ploughmans on a quiet Wednesday afternoon after burying an uncle to raise a glass in his honour. After approx. 2 hours of being served and ordring food, roughly 7pm, the barman decided to stop serving us. I will admit that a larger group than we anticipated joined us but there was no hassle, just the usual funeral antics, catching up with family and friends you only see at funerals and weddings and recanting stories of years past and loved people no longer with us. We obviously were left with no choice but to leave and went to another pub; where the pub was very accomodating and empathetic towards our situation. Our evening then went off without a hitch!
