We didn’t stay at the Hotel nor took the góndola, but just the view down the cliffs is breathtaking and impressive. They sell the produce from the gardens at the top.

Visited the beach and did not stay at the accommodation which is ranked well. The location is beautiful but the beach has very little chairs or umbrellas on the concrete deck. Because of the lack of chairs it would be nice to have some decking on the rock beach. I am not sure why the resurant is reviewed highly because the food is very ordinary when compared to food at most places on the island. Some people mention the view. There are may places on the island you can eat with a beautiful sea view so the view does not make it worth it to eat there.

A Vertical Escape into Tranquility — Fajã dos Padres is a Hidden Gem Visiting Fajã dos Padres was one of the most unforgettable moments of my Madeira trip — part adventure, part retreat, and all framed by jaw-dropping scenery. From the moment you step into the cable car, you know this isn’t just a ride — it’s an experience. The cable car itself is perched high on the cliff edge, and I’ll admit, there’s a real moment of trepidation as it rolls forward and then suddenly drops over the edge. For a second it feels like a vertical plunge — a straight line down the cliff face, and your stomach flips just slightly. But then… it smooths out. The motion is calm and steady, and you’re treated to one of the most spectacular views on the island. The Atlantic spreads out below you, cliffs rise up behind you, and banana trees and vineyards come into view far beneath. It’s both humbling and calming — that rare combination of adrenaline and peace. Once at the bottom, you enter a different world entirely. Fajã dos Padres is quiet, lush, and unhurried — a secluded strip of fertile land nestled between cliff and sea. The pathways wind through gardens and vines, and you can smell the salt air mixing with warm soil and fruit. The little restaurant by the water’s edge is a perfect reward for the descent. I sat just a few metres from the ocean, sipping a glass of house white wine — light, crisp, and local — while the waves rolled in over the pebbles. I ordered bolo do caco, the traditional Madeiran flatbread, served warm with garlic butter. Simple, delicious, and exactly right for the setting. This place doesn’t need flash or fanfare. The charm is in its quietness, its authenticity, and the feeling that you’ve stumbled upon somewhere almost secret. You don’t just visit Fajã dos Padres — you arrive there, with purpose and presence. It stays with you. A few tips: The cable car is paid but absolutely worth it. It’s well-maintained and runs smoothly. Check the operating hours before you go — it’s not open late, and you don’t want to miss the last return trip! If you're into photography, bring your best gear. The views down (and up) are breathtaking. Wear sensible shoes — some uneven ground, especially if you explore past the restaurant. --- Whether you're chasing adrenaline, calm, or just a glass of good wine by the ocean, Fajã dos Padres delivers. It’s one of those rare spots where the journey is as powerful as the destination.
