Our experience kayaking around the Oak Bay Marina was incredible! It was my first time kayaking but Ocean River Sports and our guide Federico provided necessary information and gear to ensure we had a great experience! We saw seals, eagles, rare birds with red colored beaks, and even a sea lion playing in the water. Federico explained how the sea currents and wind directions can affect an outing like ours while describing the habits of the wildlife in Victoria. I 100% recommend booking this tour as it will give you a sense that you’ll have truly discovered a part of Vancouver Island.
Had an incredible day out on the water with Fede! He was very relaxed, personable and knowledgeable! It was my first time kayaking and I felt comfortable on the water knowing our guide had endless knowledge and experience. Fede made sure we were involved in choosing routes and shared information about the areas we visited, the creatures we saw and more. Would highly recommend Ocean River!! Myself and my boyfriend had a great time renting kayaks from Ocean River Adventures! The staff were very nice and explained everything we needed to know, including some tips on where we may be more likely to see some wildlife. We followed their advice and were lucky enough to see some seals and their pups! A 2-hour trip was a good amount of time for us. Would definitely recommend renting from here :)
This was my second trip with Ocean River Adventures. Last time in 2020, whilst the trip was lovely and the staff wonderful and knowledgeable, we unfortunately didn't see any whales. So this year in 2024 we had a complimentary trip. We ended up adding another ticket to make three in our group. Well this second trip was what I can only describe as magical. The staff were friendly, informative, knowledgeable and helpful. With glorious, hot and sunny weather, no jackets were required, the seas were like glass and we were treated to more than an hour of Orca heaven. Two different pods socializing, displaying, showing off, vocalizing, swimming in unison and generally mesmerizing all of us with their antics. Almost like a "Baleine" ballet of sorts. Truly a special day. Our video format was not supported for Google upload or we'd have shared some footage. Highly recommend
