Alex brought the ruins of Pompeii to life on a private family tour on a late afternoon in August. Writing this months after our tour, I marvel at the number of times my daughters continue to talk about things Alex shared with us on our tour. As we approached Naples on the train from Florence, my eldest daughter, age 9, hadn't been thrilled that we'd be stopping for a tour en route to the Amalfi Coast--so it was amazing to watch how quickly her demeanor changed upon meeting Alex. Alex shared his knowledge and passion for Pompeii in a warm, engaging manner and my 9-year-old was gleefully skipping across the ancient stones within minutes of the tour starting. My younger daughter, age 6, was captivated by Alex's tour too, peppering him with questions, which Alex was happy to answer even as our tour extended beyond its scheduled end time. Truly none of us wanted to say goodbye to Alex--being with him really felt like meeting up with a dear friend who also happens to be an expert on Pompeii. Highly recommend!
