Foraging at Dusk

The three-hour 'Foraging at Dusk' experience offers a profound immersion into the art of non-alcoholic botanical distilling, highlighting the deep connection to the local land and the rapid growth of the zero-alcohol category. The journey begins on Freshwater Beach as the sun sets over one of Sydney's most beautiful coastlines. Here, guests will meet Aboriginal elder Clarence Bruinsma (Yaegl), who will share extensive knowledge about the local area, sea botanicals, and the fifty-thousand-year foraging traditions of the Gadigal people, focusing on the cultural role of native botanicals and local sea kelps. Participants will then discover various local kelp varieties, learn sustainable foraging techniques, and have the optional opportunity to actively forage for seaweed along the shoreline or in the shallow waters.

The second part of the evening takes place at the Seadrift Distillery. Master Distiller Alastair will explain the innovative methods used to incorporate sea kelp and other fresh botanicals into the distillation of Seadrift Non-Alcoholic spirits. Guests will gain an understanding of the unique production process that creates complex flavors without the use of ethanol, underscoring the importance of local ingredients to the brand's identity. The experience concludes with a tasting of their three international award-winning zero-alcohol spirits, after which each attendee selects a full bottle to take home as a memento. This carefully curated tour is ideal for food enthusiasts, aspiring foragers, the sober curious, and anyone desiring a deeper understanding of high-quality non-alcoholic spirit production.
