Foraging at Dusk Experience Blends Coastal Culture with Botanical Distilling

A three-hour evening experience titled “Foraging at Dusk” is offering guests an immersive journey into coastal foraging and non-alcoholic botanical distilling. Set against the backdrop of Freshwater Beach in Sydney, the experience begins as the sun sets over the shoreline, creating a reflective and atmospheric introduction.

Participants are welcomed by Aboriginal elder Clarence Bruinsma (Yaegl), who shares cultural knowledge about the region and the long-standing foraging traditions of the Gadigal people. The session highlights the importance of sea botanicals and native kelps, while also introducing sustainable practices rooted in thousands of years of coastal living.

Guests then take part in a guided exploration of local kelp varieties, with an optional hands-on opportunity to forage along the shoreline. The activity emphasizes environmental awareness and respectful interaction with natural ecosystems, offering a direct connection to the coastal landscape.

The experience concludes at the Seadrift Distillery, where Master Distiller Alastair presents the process behind crafting non-alcoholic spirits using locally sourced botanicals. The evening ends with a guided tasting session and a take-home bottle, positioning the tour as a blend of cultural education, sustainability, and modern beverage innovation.
