Northern Beaches Experience Blends Coastal Foraging and Non-Alcoholic Distillation

A three-hour immersive coastal experience is offering participants a unique blend of nature, culture, and modern distillation techniques along Australia’s Northern Beaches. The journey begins at sunrise on Freshwater Beach, where guests are introduced to the surrounding landscape and its ecological significance.

The opening segment is led by Aboriginal elder Clarence Bruinsma (Yaegl), who shares cultural knowledge about the region and the traditional practices of the Gadigal people. The session highlights the importance of sea botanicals, native plants, and coastal kelps, offering insight into centuries-old methods of sustainable foraging from land and sea.

Participants then take part in a guided shoreline activity, collecting seaweed in a responsible and environmentally conscious manner. This hands-on experience connects guests directly with the coastal ecosystem while reinforcing the importance of preserving natural resources.

The second half of the journey continues at the Seadrift Distillery, where Master Distiller Alastair introduces the process behind crafting non-alcoholic spirits using locally sourced ingredients. The experience concludes with a guided tasting session and a take-home bottle, making it a comprehensive exploration of innovation, sustainability, and cultural heritage.
