Huacachina desert experience blends dune buggy thrills, sandboarding, and sunset views

A high-adrenaline desert excursion in Huacachina, Peru is attracting adventure travelers with a combination of dune buggy rides, sandboarding, and panoramic sunset views. The experience takes place across towering sand dunes that define one of the country’s most distinctive desert landscapes.

The tour features off-road buggy rides across dunes reaching heights of up to 500 meters, offering participants a fast-paced journey over shifting golden terrain. The activity highlights both the scale of the desert and the excitement of navigating its steep slopes.

Visitors also take part in sandboarding sessions led by local guides, where they learn basic techniques before sliding down sandy inclines. This activity adds a recreational element to the tour, allowing participants to engage directly with the desert environment.

As the day concludes, guests witness a sunset over the expansive dunes, with changing light creating striking visual conditions ideal for photography. The experience finishes with a return to the Huacachina oasis town, known for its small lake and surrounding desert scenery.

These guys were the best! From the very first moment – helping me choose the right equipment – to the final touch of the sun disappearing behind the dunes, everything was perfect. You’re going to witness one of the most incredible sunsets of your life. Highly recommended – 5 stars!
