I had a wonderful experience taking a two-and-a half-hour e-bike tour led by Manuel Gazzoka through historic Vincenza. Manuel is deeply knowledgeable about the city’s architecture, history and culture. His enthusiasm for the place shines throughout the tour. The experience left me with a much better understanding of Vincenza and it was the perfect introduction to the city.

I thought about booking a few tours of Palladio's villas before traveling to Vicenza and decided against it because I thought they were too expensive, I have totally changed my mind after spending a couple of afternoons with Manuel. Manuel brought so much to the experience. He is an architect and is very passionate and knowledgeable of the history, the social environment as well as the dominant philosophical thinking of the times. He helped us understand the patterns and meanings found in the paintings in the villas. We toured 3 villas including Palladio's Rotunda. This brings also to a couple of very practical reasons I am so grateful to Manuel. First, the Rotunda was closed on the days we were in Vicenza, but Manuel was able to get permission for us to see it. It was truly amazing. Second, he drove. That may sound silly but I would not take that for granted.

Our group had a wonderful day in early June with Manuel as he took us across the Vicenza countryside and educated us on Andrea Palladio. His knowledge of Palladio is both deep and wide and the pure emotion he had for Palladio’s architecture was evident. The e-bikes were top notch bikes with Bosch motors that performed great. The route was lovely with appropriate stops to enjoy and experience Palladian architecture and learn how to read where form meets function to create beautiful structures. Manuel helped us learn how to read the artwork to better understand what it was trying to tell us. Our group went from just appreciating the art to basic interpretation of the art. What an ‘Ah ha’ moment. All-in, it was a fantastic day and our group really appreciated that we toured with Palladian Routes.

With the help of Palladian routes, guided by Manuel were able to bike across a picturesque countryside route to see numerous beautiful villas designed by the master Andrea Palladio. My friend and I were lucky enough to be visit the interiors of the Villa Caldogno and Villa Valmarana Bressan, and even were given special access to upstairs rooms thanks to Manuel. As an architecture student, I greatly appreciated Manuel’s explanations of the history of Vicenza and the innovations of Palladio from both a historical and personal understanding. The trip was very thoughtfully planned to help us maximize our every moment, and Manuel is always quick to reply to any message! Great memories :)

The Palladian routes bike tour was fabulous! We stumbled upon it last minute when looking for a fun, yet educational activity on our second day in Vicenza. The communication and ease of booking with Palladian routes, especially on such short notice, was most appreciated. Our family of five (with two teens and a 12 year old) enjoyed everything about it—the bike ride, the sights, but most of all, our highly educated and passionate tour guide, Manuel. Manuel provided us a memorable trip through time, rich in architecture and understanding, explaining in detail the historical landscape of Italy in the time of Palladian. This was my husband’s and my third trip to Italy in 20 years, and we learned more on this tour than we recall from any other. The personal, customized attention is rarely given any more. It is clear that Manuel holds deep respect for his country and the history of Palladian, and the villas. What a hidden gem! We highly recommend this tour. In our opinion, it is a must-do activity while in Vicenza! On a final note, we purchased art from the gallery, and Manuel graciously helped us to ship it home. Many, many thanks for a most pleasant and delightful experience!!!
