Visiting Castillo San Felipe del Morro was one of the highlights of our time in San Juan. The fort is absolutely breathtaking — massive stone walls, sweeping ocean views, and so much history packed into every corner. Walking through the grounds really gives you a sense of how important and powerful this site once was. The scenery alone is worth the visit. The open green lawns, crashing waves, and panoramic coastal views create an unforgettable atmosphere. It’s both peaceful and awe-inspiring at the same time. There’s plenty to explore, and the informational displays add great context without overwhelming you. Everything is well maintained, easy to navigate, and family-friendly. Whether you’re into history, photography, or just want a beautiful place to walk and take in the views, El Morro delivers. A must-see landmark when visiting Old San Juan — we’d gladly return.

It was enjoyable to walk around and explore the old fort. There were several museum style exhibits in various rooms. Half of the fort is down a long stairway. The expanse of it is vast. It's a testament to human ingenuity and the horrors that we inflict upon each other.

This is a magnificent historical site. Breathtaking ocean views and many interesting exhibits if you are interested in historical sites. I would highly recommend it if you are in Old San Juan. My husband and I were easily able to walk to both forts from the cruise port and it was amazingly affordable!
