What an experience to visit Angkor Wat. I visited Angkor Wat at 5am while it was still dark and walking there in the jungle, hearing the sounds and seeing the complex appear all of a sudden was impressive. Must have been even more impressive to see when it was only surrounded by jungle in the past. The weather was hot and humid, but exploring Angkor Wat is worth every drop of sweat. Take your time for exploring as this complex is enormous. Don’t rush things and soak everything up, admire the architecture, the details, the beauty and the vastness. It truly is an engineering masterpiece and keep yourself hydrated. Hopefully everyone will be as impressed as I was.

I did a small loop through Angkor Wat complex but honestly this main temple was the most amazing one for me. Started the tour at 10:00 and finished after the sunset. In my opinion it's better to watch the sunset directly at Angkor Wat, since sun is shining directly on its walls, instead of watching the sunset on the hill near by. You can barely see the main temple from the hill. The temple itself is amazing, hard to believe they were able to build it in XII century. Definitely a must see when in Siem Reap.

Angkor Wat is absolutely breathtaking — the scale, the history and the atmosphere of this place make it one of the most impressive ancient sites in the world. You can easily explore everything on your own, without a guide, and still enjoy every moment. The area is very well organized for visitors: tuk-tuks are available everywhere and can be rented without any problem, which makes getting between temples fast and convenient. A magical place full of history and beauty. A must-see when visiting Cambodia!
