I love these folks because they love bikes, they love going biking, and they love their customers. I was looking to upgrade an old bicycle, and was not confident about many new features and recent tech developments. I visited each of two Big Wheel stores -- one in Arlington where Eric and Adam ran through through a host of options; and at their second store in Old Town Alexandria, where Bennet and Ray reserved a unique bike on their floor, as I took a couple days to work through my options. In particular, Bennet trusted in my interest closed the sale. AFTER my purchase commitment, he offered some ancillary equipment I will need. He also prepped the bike with new wheels that fit the road bike, but also compatible with gravel. Then managed to stepped outside the store to help with my bike rack assembly, without forgetting another customer. At the same time, these were good business folks who understood that they need to operate a sustaining business. Indeed they have been in business for years. It's cliche for many businesses who say that "the customer comes first". These folks are the real McCoy. They practice what they stand for.
4 year review Bennett and Ray go above and beyond in customer service; friendly, timely, creative, knowledgeable, honest. They carry and maintain high end stuff, but unlike most bike shop mechanics, they’re genuinely passionate about keeping less glamorous bikes running well for people who aren’t made of money. I ride 80-120 miles/week so I’m in there often. They’re always generous with their time in helping me troubleshoot. I have several bikes I didn’t buy from them, but they’re just as helpful with those. I’ve worked with a lot of bike shops. These guys are the best I’ve worked with. One of the reasons I love living in old town.
The service here was excellent. I ordered two bikes online and they were ready when we arrived. Ray was helpful adjusting our seats and making sure our ride was comfortable. He was also very helpful with directions and got us pointed towards the Mountain Vernon trail. We had a great day thanks to these guys.
Super good dudes. Had a wild tubeless blow out and dropped it off on a summer Sunday for repair + minor annual tune-up. Really quick work for really okay pricing. Will def return 👍🏻
