Tower of London is more than a mere tourist destination. It's history dates back to the Norman Conquest, such as St John's Chapel built for William the Conqueror. While the chapel is deeply historical, it is also an active place of worship today, open to the Yeoman and their family's who live and work on the grounds. Despite the name, there are actually many towers (21, I believe) such as the White Tower, Bloody Tower, Bell Tower, and Martin Tower (where the Crown Jewels reside on public view). You could honestly spend the whole day here, and it warrants revisitstion. The cafe is tasty and convenient. The history is well presented and easily digestible. My favorite aspect were the Ravens who guard the Tower (or so they say). The Tower keeps a minimum of six, though I saw eight upon my visit--each assigned their own mew with their names on it. If you're lucky, you may speak with the Raven Master for further learning. A few things to note: much of the history is dark, such as the Princes of the Tower and the many many beheadings. The Yeoman on duty are certainly a spectacle, but their job is a serious one. Do not harass them. As mentioned, construction is ancient, therefore accessibility may be obstructed to those of limited mobility. Finally, photos and videos are strictly prohibited around the Crown Jewels.

10/10! Visited on a cold rainy day and still enjoyed myself. Definitely do the free Beefeater tour! They are a great group of men and women who do a wonderful job and makes the visit a memorable one. Look up their history as well because becoming a Beefeater is quite an interesting story. Also would highly recommend the audio guide. We got there around 1:15pm and honestly stayed until closing, around 4:30pm and it was NOT enough time. There’s so much to see and so much history. Would recommend start early, can easily maybe spend between 4-6 hours here. Highlights of course were the Beefeater Tour and seeing the Crown Jewels!

This is the coolest place for medieval history and a must see in London!! So rich with history, it could take you all day to absorb it all! Went on a Friday morning at open and it was not busy at all! Got to walk straight into the Crown Jewels. Reasonably priced for about $50 USD a person. Bought on website in advance.
