Julien made us feel totally comfortable and was an excellent spokesman for the culture, history and culinary experience of Avignon. We totally enjoyed the afternoon spent visiting the various locations and sampling icecream, chocolates, pastries, wine & cheese. He covered our 4 favourite food groups!

MORE THAN JUST EATING FOOD! If you are reading this review, then you are interested in a food tour. All food tours will typically let you taste amazing food but the guide makes a difference. You will not be disappointed in this one. My husband and I agree this is one of the best we have taken because the guide was excellent (and the food was great too). We have been on food tours in six different countries, and this one was by far the most entertaining. The time flew by. Julien takes you to places you would miss if you are not from Avignon-- small, hidden spots with excellent tastings. He knows the stories behind the food, the cafés, the owners, and the city. We did the morning tour, 9 -1 pm. We ended at the Food Hall, which was the highlight for us. We were able to shop and take some excellent meat and cheese back to our Airbnb. Highly recommend. Julien deserves all the five stars. The tour is perfect for first-timers and people who love food tours.

I have taken a lot of food walking tours in Europe and the U.S. over many years of traveling, and Julien’s tour is among the best. He’s very knowledgeable about the history of Avignon and presents it in a fun way. There wasn’t a question that he couldn’t answer. All of the foods we tasted were excellent, and Julien told us about the cultural aspects of the various dishes. We had 2 wine tastings of unusual wines along the way and ended with a beautifully presented feast of Provençal specialities with another wine of choice at Les Halles. A wonderful tour that was well worth the money.

This is a wonderful small group food, beverage and history tour of “inside the walls” area of Avignon. We took the morning tour for a great introduction to the city and what it has to offer. Our family of 3 adults and 3 teenage boys learned about Avignon’s origins and culture while sipping coffee, eating croissants and experiencing many much more obscure local traditional foods. Our guide Julien seemed to know everyone around town, spoke perfect English and was able to interpret Avignon for each guest to personally engage with their minds, palletes and bellies. I highly recommend Julien and this tour to get acquainted with Avignon.

Want to eat your way through Avignon while learning about its rich history? Julien provided an excellent introduction to restaurants, bakeries, wine shops, chocolate shops, coffee/tea shops, and more. He still owes me a bottle of wine for spotting the most Virgin Mary statues around town, but maybe if you take his tour, you can break my record.
