We rented a car with Arusha Car Rental and Safaris for 9 days in June. The car was great and had everything we needed: room to stand up to see the wildlife, radio so the guide's could speak to each other, plenty of room and a cool box. The office staff were also very helpful and advised us on the route throughout our planning. But the star of the show was definitely John, our guide and driver. John picked us up from the Seronera airstrip and it was clear straight away that he was an expert who knew the Serengeti like the back of his hand and everything that lives inside it. Each new animal that we passed, he'd stop, give us time to take photos and then explained a bit about them, their characteristics and any interesting facts. He's also an expert on the birds and plant life in the area if you're interested in that. He spoke to us about his childhood, what got him interested in becoming a safari guide and what it was like growing up in Tanzania. We think back to our second day as 'lion day' - as John seemed to know exactly where and when to go to certain places to spot the lions - often without many other cars around us. One magical moment on the way back was when he spotted a pride of at least 8 lions - young, old, male, female, all just waking up from their daytime slumber and getting ready to play and hunt. We were the only car there and had a good 20 minutes just watching them interact with each other. In the whole trip I was hoping to spot at least one lion - that day alone we must have spotted 40! Overall we spotted pretty much everything (including the big 5) apart from a cheetah. Most of this we wouldn't have seen if not for John pointing it out. There was a bit of confusion between us and the office which meant that we thought that they would take us back to Nairobi international airport. This didn't phase John who agreed to make the long drive with us to drop us off there, before driving back to Arusha himself. Would recommend John to anyone who wants to do a safari!

Arusha car rentals are a reputable and trustworthy company, the communication was always good and they delivered what I paid for. The car, a Toyota land cruiser wasn't that new but it was solid, coping well with the difficult conditions that you find in ngorongoro and serengeti. They even came out very late one night to sort out an issue. Great service and gets my recommendation.

The car was a bit older and had clearly seen better days, but it reliably took us to some incredible places. While the car itself lacked luxury, our driver and guide, Fanueli, more than made up for it. He truly deserves a 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. In just two days, we had the opportunity to explore Arusha National Park, where we saw wildlife that’s not always easy to spot. We also visited Kilimanjaro, hiked to a stunning 90-meter waterfall, and learned about everything from coffee and agriculture to Tanzanian lifestyle and Maasai culture. Fanueli’s extensive knowledge was invaluable, and he made sure we made the most of every moment. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide!
