The only good thing was boat ride. Banana trees... Are banana trees, on the other hand I have seen some poor animals closed in small cages, exploited for the fun of some people that are making money on expense of tormented creatures, if you are animal lover do not go there, it is the image of how Egipt treats animals, if some state authority exist like animal police or similar, they should close this place.
The island alone is kind of a sad view. The banana plantation is nice and makes for cute pictures, however if you have seen similar ones in Egypt/Turkey before it is not really worth it. The animals at the "zoo" are held in terrible conditions and some animal rights societies should deffinitely get involved here as these poor monkeys and crocodilles are living in way too small enclosures and are just used as fun for tourists. The idea of entering a cage with a crocodile for a photo (maybe it is sedated, but still) also seems incredibly stupid to me. What I took away from this trip was the terrible life conditions of some people in Egypt. Imediatelly after arriving on the island by boat, many kids rushed to greet us, begging for money. The "houses" and "buildings" on this island also look deplorable and it is sad to imangine people actually live there. Everything here is just for comercial purpose. They will sell you drinks, fruits, pictures...anything just to get some money. Truely a heartbreaking experience. I feel like the money you spend on this trip is worth it, but not for the island itself but rather the "cruise" down the Nile wich is actually kind of nice.
Banana Island is a nice place to visit, accessible by boat, and it offers a peaceful atmosphere along the Nile. The banana plantations are very interesting to see and give visitors a good impression of local agriculture. However, the part with the so-called zoo was very disappointing. The animals are kept in very small enclosures and in poor condition, which is quite upsetting. In my opinion, this “zoo” should be closed, as the banana plantation itself is more than enough of an attraction.
A hidden gem on the Nile! Banana Island is one of the most peaceful and charming places we visited near Luxor. Lush nature, banana plantations, and a relaxing atmosphere make it the perfect escape from the city. The boat ride was lovely, and the hosts were incredibly welcoming. Fresh bananas straight from the tree — delicious! A must-see stop on any Nile adventure.
A pleasant spot for a short walk and a break in nature. The island offers greenery, banana plantations, and the chance to taste fresh local bananas. There’s also a small animal corner, but the conditions for the animals are poor and may leave a negative impression. The visit is usually part of an organized boat trip, which adds to the overall experience. A nice stop, but don’t expect anything spectacular.
