Philae Temple is one of the most beautiful and atmospheric sites in Egypt. You reach it only by boat, and the short ride across the Nile is already a highlight—calm water, gentle breeze, and stunning river views all around. Arriving at the island feels almost magical. The temple’s columns, reliefs, and gateways are well preserved, blending Egyptian and Greco-Roman elements in a unique way. It’s especially photogenic in the daytime, with the sunlight reflecting off the water. A peaceful, scenic, and unforgettable stop in Aswan.

Great Egyptian temple on the island facing the Nile River. The temple is incredibly well-preserved, with intricate carvings and towering columns that showcase the skill of ancient craftsmen. Walking through its halls feels like stepping back in time, and the views of the river from the temple are breathtaking. The hieroglyphics tell fascinating stories, and the quiet atmosphere makes it a truly memorable and spiritual experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Aswan.

Philae Temple is absolutely stunning; one of the most beautiful and peaceful sites we visited in Egypt. The setting on the island is magical, and the carvings are incredibly well preserved. We went around 1–2 PM, which turned out to be the perfect time; most cruise groups were having lunch, so the temple was almost empty, allowing us to explore quietly and take amazing photos. Our guide made the visit even more special by explaining the history and symbolism behind the temple, which really brought the place to life. I'd recommend a guide. A small but important tip: the ticket already includes the boat ride to and from the temple, so don’t fall for anyone who tells you that you need to pay extra for transportation.

A must-see in Egypt — even just the motorboat ride to get there is worth it! I spent about 1h15 exploring at a slow pace and loved every moment. Your boat will wait for you and take you back to the bank afterwards. Just remember to buy your tickets before boarding the motorboat!

Philae temple was great, lots of historical detail and it's a really nice, short boat ride to get there. Just being ready to haggle the prices down, unless you want to pay tourist price 😉 I would advise having a return car ready if you're coming from Nubian Village or somewhere because mobile signal was quite unreliable and we ended up paying double the taxi rate (after strong haggling down from 500 pounds to 200 pounds).
