    We took the guided tour on the train to the Alps from Nice. Our guide was Carmela and she was wonderful. Engaging, entertaining, charming, and very knowledgeable about Nice, the towns we visited, their history, and the artwork and architecture of the towns. Highly recommend this tour.

    My husband and I initially booked the Baroque and Salt Road Train tour, but due to an issue with the train track it was recommended that we switch to the Mountain Train Experience. Matt was our guide on this tour and did a great job with explaining the history, culture, architecture, and geology of the region and the railway. With any issue or obstacle that arose (which seems fairly standard when traveling between small mountain villages of France), Matt was quick to pivot and ensure that our trip was smooth and enjoyable. We really enjoyed our trek to the top of the fortress in Entrevaux, and the hike in Annot was both beautiful and full of history. If we come back to Nice, we will definitely be booking with Nice Creative Tours again and will be hoping that Matt is our guide!

    Cyril really did an amazing job at being a tour guide. We did the salt train tour and it was worth it. A much more interesting journey than the usual tours that take you to the French Riviera and Eze. It’s not easy to coordinate with the bus drivers in the villages just so we get on the buses so kudos to Cyril for making sure we get to each spot. It’s a very easygoing trip so the description of a 12km hike wasn’t true to be honest. It was more like a 5km hike. If the bus doesn’t show up (which can happen) then it’ll probably be 12-15km hike 😂 Cyril is very upbeat and honest about the local culture, history and people. It’s a shame that the train will halt on Sept 1 until end 2025, which would definitely impact local tourism in the villages. The trip is worth seeing just to get the vibes of medieval villages, local customs and the paradoxical relationship between France and Italy. The local drink, pastis, made with Ricard, is a must try from the friendly neighborhood pub in Breil.
