The adventure continues as you approach the impressive Cunovo dam, an engineering marvel that plays a crucial role in controlling the river’s flow. Here, you have the opportunity to explore the renowned Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, a gallery dedicated to modern art, boasting stunning exhibitions in a remarkable riverside setting. To complete the experience, a visit to the Modra Cajka restaurant, which is uniquely positioned on the water, offers a delightful dining experience where you can savor fine cuisine while enjoying picturesque views of the Danube. A one of kind museum in the middle of the Danube river. It was a bit far from the city but it's worth a trip, you can spend 1-2 hours here but I would recommend to go there on sunny days as a huge part of the artworks are outside in the gardens or on the rooftop. I didn't like all the temporary exhibition but they were mainly good. Best part was the photography exhibition by Rancinan. The café inside the museum was lovely.

This place is so awesome. Feels otherworldly. A must see, but reserve a few hours at least. Surrounded by water, art and beautiful spaces everywhere. Go see for yourself.

It is a very nice museum! For lovers of modern art and finding artists from Slovakia and other surrounding countries, this is a must in Bratislava! It is easily accessible by bus from the centre of the city (departing from Nové SND, 2 zones), and it is situated in a very beautiful place! Personally, I thought that it needed more female artists, but the pieces being displayed are very dynamic and stunning! The staff is very kind, there's also free water, portable folding chairs and a nice outside area to roam and catch some sunlight. The café is nice, and it is very well decorated! The WC is very clean and functional. The only downside is the museum shop, which doesn't contain much from the museum itself. It definitely needed more postcards with pieces being displayed and other merchandise from the exhibitions. Definitely worth a visit!!

Beautiful museum on an island in the Danube. The outdoor sculptures are by far the best part. They even used the roof of the museum for more sculptures. The setting is lovely. My only note would be that it would be nice if the cafe had some food besides desserts. Although the desserts were yummy!

Danubiana is truly a gem just outside Bratislava—a museum of international class, but on a more intimate and accessible scale. What really stood out was the strong focus on local and regional artists, which gave the visit a real sense of place and identity. The mix of permanent and changing exhibitions keeps things fresh and engaging. The location is stunning—situated on a narrow peninsula (almost like an island!) surrounded by the Danube, with views of the river in full force. Don’t miss the sculpture park outside or the rooftop terrace, both perfect for a peaceful stroll and great photo opportunities. The café is another highlight. It’s a lovely spot to relax, with outdoor seating that lets you enjoy the scenery while taking a break. This was our first visit, but definitely not the last. Highly recommended for art lovers, nature lovers—or anyone looking for a special experience just a short drive from the city.
