We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our 3-night stay at The Village Hotel. "Casa Pictata” offers an authentic experience and has all the necessary facilities. Penny is a wonderful host who gladly arranged encounters with the local community: we dined on traditional Romanian food at a local's home, visited a shepherd's station (where the view over Breb is breathtaking!) and we also had the opportunity to observe the cheese-making process.

Lovely host and beautiful surrounding. The owner, Penny and her wonderful assistant Andrada really made the experience memorable. The charming houses are beautifully restored in the traditional style of the area although not luxurious. The whole property is a corner of paradise in Breb. The lovely hosts are well connected in the village and will help guide you around Maramureș. And of course special mention to Pușa the dog.

Fantastic place - the cottage, the people, and the breakfast food (fresh eggs, milk, bread, fruit and vegetables) were all second to none. Andrada introduced us to a wonderful woman in the village who cooked a local dinner for us for a small price, it was a brilliant and delicious experience! Penny organised a local tour guide for us and that was brilliant too - highly recommend as a base for exploring Maramureș and the UNESCO wooden churches

Exceptionally gracious and helpful owner (Penny). She accommodated me on the day before and let me stayed in a beautifully decorated villa surrounded by nature and supplied with fresh eggs, milk, veggies, butter, cheese, jam and coffee! She gave me excellent information on what to do in Maramures and hooked me up with local food from a local resident and a restaurant. Both were excellent. I highly recommend this place!

One of the best place we visited in Romania. This is a beautiful rural house on a very nice site in a small village. Some local foods awaiting in the house and it have a fireplace outside (wood is free). The people there are very welcoming. Andrada, who take care of the village hotel tourists, is a very nice person and will make you feel at home. When we arrived, she welcomed us with some good local pálinka and brought us to the village terrace-pub where we eated some very good food. We also ate at an old women house terrace (don’t miss this, it’s excellent). A very friendly place, we will not forget it!
