I really enjoyed this volcano island. I did the peak trail, and the lighthouse loop. It was an easy trail and ended at 8 miles total. There were a lot of people at the peak on Sunday but very few people anywhere on the loop. I also visited the lava caves, interesting, but not anything super exciting. All in all the trip was fun and the views were spectacular.

Quite good, especially if you’re an international visitor looking for some exercise when visiting Auckland. As others have said, about 4mi RT, a bit more if you add the caves, on a fairly wide trail to the summit. What helps for a visitor, is all the other things that make it easy. Access is via the ferry right from downtown. The ferry ride gives another view of the city. It’s easy to do, gives a nice bit of exercise, and has a different view of Auckland.

Tremendous views of the city and surrounding islands. Well worth it! It is a moderate hike to the summit. Approx 4 miles round trip unless you add on the lava caves or take the circuitous route back. The terrain is Ricky with a moderate amount of stairs, especially at the top.

Absolutely brilliant! Highly recommend the coastal track if you’re up for a challenging hike! We got the 9:30 ferry over to Rangitoto and the 2:30 ferry back, but it was rushed. Would have instead booked the 3:30 ferry back to give time to go for a swim in beautiful water too!

You will not give too much by the exterior looking, but the place is beautiful, very well set and easy to walk around! Bring water, and follow the indication accordingly! Need at least 4 hours, to enjoy the view, rest a bit and take pictures! Wear a confortáble and thick shoes! The loose stones make you feel bit pointy! The tracks is light, takes about 45’ to reach the summit and other 45’ to go back! Bring water, fruits and something warm! Make you feel so good! Pier #14, tickets is NZ$57,00/adult! Have toilets in the basement
