Wow this is one safari you mustn’t miss. Yala national park is a whole ride of so many wild animals. Our safari guide was very knowledgeable and spotted several wild elephants, leopards twice, monitor lizards, monkey, pudu deer, black neck hare, crocodiles, mongoose, peacocks and many exotic birds. Yes there were instances when many safari jeeps created busy traffic but it happened only at two times with us. Remaining times it was quiet and nice. One feedback I would like to give in general, that we must be respectful to the animals. As I have seen in few other countries, people stop their cars or jeeps at a safer distance, so that the animals can be free and roam around peacefully and don’t feel any disturbance because of us.

We went for a full day safari - and we wish we could have done two days! The park is well maintained and boasts a significant population of mammals, birds and reptiles. We thoroughly enjoyed driving around lush floodplains and forests, spotting chital, elephants, snakes, peacocks and even a leopard! Make sure to hire a guide that speaks good English if you want to truly understand the ecosystem and it's inhabitants.

We were very lucky and were able to see a lot of animals: water buffalos, lizards, various birds, a bear, crocodiles, elephants and even a leopard on a tree (although very hard to see, shout out to the driver who gave us the binoculars to see it better). I think that you need to adjust your expectations on how the animals are visible on a safari in their natural habitat. Everything is usually far away and might also be hidden, once you know what to expect you can absolutely enjoy it. With the high fee from the national park I expected the guide to be telling more about the animals and the park itself and instead he just sits in the driver cabin... that's outside of the safari organizer's control but something that I hope the national park can work on.

Visiting Yala National Park was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my trip to Sri Lanka. I spent one incredible day on safari, surrounded by the wild beauty of nature — endless landscapes, golden light, and the feeling of complete freedom. Our driver was professional. He knew exactly where to go, so we were lucky enough to see elephants, peacocks, crocodiles, deer, and many other beautiful animals in their natural habitat. Watching them move freely, so close yet so peaceful, felt absolutely magical. If you’re visiting Sri Lanka, a safari in Yala is something you should not miss. It’s more than just an excursion — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that stays in your heart forever.

Great, we saw two leopards up close. In addition, the scenery in the forest was magnificent. We were also fascinated by crocodiles hiding in the water, wild buffaloes bathing in the mud, and peacocks dancing with their feathers. We saw elephants roaming in groups and elephants living alone. This full day safari was provided to us by Keshara Safari. Their lunch and breakfast foods was perfect. We also took advantage of their other services. I highly recommend this Yala National Park to everyone. Overall, it was Keshara Safari that gave us the chance to see leopards. We rented a bike from them and went to see the environment outside the Yala jungle. I highly recommend Yala National Park and Keshara Safari.
