We were very pleased with our driver and trip to Montepulciano and Pienza. He arrived promptly and was very informative of the area. The De' Ricci winery tour and tasting was great. Having a scheduled itinerary and dedicated driver made our day trip from Rome so much easier and less stressful than trying to figure out other transportation. My parents and I used Rome Private Excursions to maximize our day in Rome on a recent cruise. They made sure we had an awesome day! Our driver was great- friendly and knowledgeable. He got us in and out of many places far more easily than the big cruiseline excursion groups did! He also had an excellent recommendation for lunch. We opted for a guide at the Vatican, which they arranged for us. Definitely the right call and our guide was awesome! Communication was very good all throughout the process. I am very pleased and would use them again in a heartbeat!
TLDR: the best private car service in Roma, especially for more independent travelers. Background: My plans had been disrupted the day before with another tour company. Luca was extremely responsive via email and WhatsApp to schedule a custom tour out to Tuscany from Roma. My mother has a bad knee and could not do a lot of walking so Luca recommended Pienza and Orvieto as they were flatter towns with easier walking. The Tour: we were picked up in front of our hotel by the driver Chris. Chris was extremely nice, a great driver who didn't make us pray for our lives like other Roman drivers. On the drive out, Chris gave tour information regarding history, local cultures, etc. None of our group was ever board, and Chris was a wealth of information, even when we asked random questions. The vehicle was a very well taken care of Mercedes van, and complimentary water was provided. The company also set up a wine tasting with us that was extremely reasonably priced compared to other tours and really provided great advice for exploring the towns. The ONLY nitpick I can come up with is the tour portion is very much limited to the driving experience. I.e., Chris provided great commentary on the drive, but once we got to the towns, we were dropped off, allowed to explore, and given a pickup time. If you're independent explorers like my wife and I, this was great. However, for my older parents, I believe they would have preferred a little more guidance around the towns. Just something to be aware of. I can't possibly dock a star for it, but I would have loved the option to have the driver show my parents around a little bit once inside the towns.
We had the pleasure of getting a private tour of the Vatican and the Colosseum with our guide Manny, and it was fantastic! It absolutely exceeded our expectations, and Manny really went above and beyond for us. He was very kind and even took us to areas that not too many people know about, recommended a great restaurant, and just made everything so easy for us. Loved this trip so much! I’ve been to Rome & Tuscany before but never experienced it quite like this. Wine tastings, cooking classes, spa time & touring - oh my! Having knowledgeable experienced driver/guides makes such a difference in the overall experience! I never felt rushed & the time allotted for each location worked out beautifully. A real testament to Luca is that all of his amazing guides & driver/guides are as fun, knowledgeable & experienced as he & they all love Italy & love to share their passion for her with every visitor. Highly recommend!!
