A beautiful walk through the underground tunnels, interesting and engaging. Thanks to Danilo for his explanations, which revealed the immense satisfaction of being part of the Association that discovered and brought to light these "Connutti," a source of pride and passion for this village.
A visit to the Connutti, the ancient underground water conduits of Vignanello, is a unique, authentic experience, and an absolute must-do for anyone visiting this beautiful village in Tuscia. After touring the church's basement, which also houses some evocative ossuaries, the tour begins. Walking among tuff walls that still retain the mysterious charm of the past, you'll embark on an interesting journey that reveals a hidden side of the village and Ruspoli Castle: a maze of narrow tunnels and small passageways. The tour, which costs just €5, was led by Elena, a passionate and engaging member of the Pro Loco, with a deep love for her region that drives her to promote a small, great treasure like the one we visited today! Vignanello holds a hidden treasure beneath its narrow streets: a series of underground tunnels called "connutti." A truly evocative experience in the heart of Tuscia!
The ancient aqueduct that brought water to the Ruspoli Castle is a very interesting visit that begins in the crypt of the collegiate church. A great job by the volunteers of Vignanello, a truly commendable initiative.
A surprising and unexpected experience definitely worth a visit. Our guide, Fulvio, passionately shared the history of this underground part of Vignanello. A special thanks to all the Association's volunteers who, over the years, have worked tirelessly to restore and open this underground passageway to visitors.
