Trains are great to get you around quickly. Prices are very high compared to other transport in other countries. On board ticket staff for trenitalia are criminals. They look for tourists, check your ticket and any mistake they try and charge you full price again. We spent over $400 for round trip from Roma to Naples, on train back he claimed we were responsible for paying for all 3 kids again, as the lady at the terminal (at 7am) didn’t charge us enough for the tickets. He demanded another 57 euros. Tried to explain we aren’t responsible for your employees mistake. He couldn’t prove it was in their so called policy that it’s my responsibility, which he claimed, after harassing us for 30 minutes we pay him 8 euros to leave us alone. Then he did the same to another family beside us because they didn’t know they had to validate their tickets. He tried to charge them all new tickets. Absolute scam! Do your research before getting on train so you don’t get harassed like us. Also had our passports and id demanded by police after the issue with trenitalia staff. Be careful. Termini is littered with pickpockets. Had 2 eyeing us the whole time, so had adult males in group at front and back covering everyone. They thought, big family lots of kids is easy target, but they moved on when there was no opportunity for them to steal.

AVOID the X-change Sacchetti - the currency exchange company operating in Italy Rome near Trevi Fountain & Rome Termini station at all cost. Because they quietly charge you 20% commission without telling you or confirming with you how much you will be getting back. They EXPECT you to read the many A4 size 10pt font at the counter. The lady at one of their Trevi Fountain branch said she is not responsible to confirm how much i am getting because there is notice. Once you have changed the money, there is no way for you to refund because it is written (quietly without confirming). If super urgent just go to the bank or bank atm. NOT THE standalone ATM either. NEVER EVER go to this X- change Sacchetti.

Roma Termini is a bustling hub that unites all of Italy. We came in from the port of Civitavecchia, which was about an hour long trip through beautiful seaside towns & lovely seanic vistas. Once at the terminal it was a breeze to find our way out to our appointed rendezvous with our tour guide. It is an immaculately clean train terminal, that boasts food, a mall of sorts & very clean toilets for a cost. On our return trip, we did find out that the platform for the port is the furthest from the entrance & had to book it to make it back so we didn’t miss our ship. Very high marks to the City for having such a wonderful terminal with great signage & loads of Polizia to make you feel safe

I recently traveled through Rome Termini Central Station. The station itself is quite large, with many shops, restaurants, and good train connections across Italy. It’s convenient if you’re heading to other cities. However, I have to mention that the area around the station didn’t feel very safe. I saw a lot of homeless people nearby, and the atmosphere was uncomfortable, especially in the evening. I would recommend being extra cautious with your belongings and avoiding walking alone at night in the surrounding streets. Overall, it’s practical for transportation, but the environment outside could definitely be improved.

A Bustling and Well-Connected Hub in the Heart of Rome. Roma Termini is a massive train station, serving as a primary gateway for domestic and international travel across Italy and Europe. The station's architecture is a blend of historical and modern elements, making it an impressive sight. Inside, you'll find a wide range of food shops and restaurants, as well as plenty of self-service train ticket machines for a quick and easy experience. The platform information is clear and easy to follow, which is essential given the station's size. For seamless movement, both escalators and stairs are available to connect the various levels of the station. If you are going through Metro, have some time in hand as from getting off from Metro and reaching the Main platforms will take some time. A alot of options for shopping (its like a Mall). The station definitely needs air-conditioning in hot weather. Air circulation is bad. Seating area is also less in comparison to the number of tourists transiting from station. All major train companies have offices as well as kiosk machines.
