Absolutely perfect day with Stefano. He is a lovely, charming human that we were blessed to spend a day with. We visited San Gimignano and Certaldo which were amazing. And a stop at a beautiful winery he suggested for a tasting and a delicious lunch where he joined us for some great conversation and laughs. He was also wonderful and engaging with our 4 young boys. Wished we had more time to spend another day with him on our trip. You won’t regret a day with Stefano and he will build the day’s itinerary based on your preferences.
Stefano planned an absolutely unforgettable experience for us just outside of Florence. He picked my fiancé and I up from our hotel in Florence and drove us about two hours to the charming mountain town of Colonnata. There we were able to privately tour a local lardo producer’s facility and understand the process of production. Shortly after, we were able to visit the producer’s shop and taste the lardo as well as a variety of other meats (see photo) and were blown away by the taste and quality. We also drove around the area and observe marble mining from the nearby mountains. On our way back to Florence, we stopped at a winery in Lucca that has been family owned for three generations and in existence for about 300 years. Not only were we able to learn about/taste the wine and olive oil produced there (which were delicious) but we also toured the villa that has been on the property since the 1700’s. This whole experience was 10/10 and absolutely unforgettable. If you are staying in Florence, I highly recommend planning an excursion with Stefano to get away from the tourists and really learn/experience Italian culture. Stefano planned the excursion around us and made sure that I felt safe with the food options available since I am celiac. Not only is Stefano great at his job, but we was a great guide, so much fun to be around, and great to chat with. We will be planning another excursion with Out of the Box Florence as soon as we get the chance!
I had the most amazing experience with Stefano and Lucca in Cinque Terre. The hiking provided beautiful views and a great way to enjoy the geological landscape. They were familiar with the history of the area as well as the geography. I felt like I was spending the day with good friends. I think the pesto we had at lunch was the best I’ve ever had. I wish I had more time in Florence I’d definitely book another tour with Out of The Box Florence without hesitation.
